You cant upload photos from your camera roll which makes sense so that people cant just upload google photos. However this forces you to use the in app camera. The in app camera has no zoom, clouds are often far away. Zoom makes sense, add zoom.

This is fun and addictive, but its educational value is limited. The choice of cloud types to choose from is rather arbitrary. Furthermore the anonymous experts appear to be of mixed expertise. It would also help if you could interact and discuss your clouds; instead youre left wondering why they reject your sightings. Also as another reviewer indicated photo quality is poor, but youre forced to use the app interface. This is like a bad drug, addictive, but only after youre stuck you find out how bad. I had to drop the rating to one star; the error rate by the anonymous verification team is excessive; to call this an educational tool is a joke
I tried like crazy to like this app but the limitations make it very hard. The simple fact that you cant upload a photo you take on the phone w/o using the built-in system is a pain. The built-in system does not compensate for light levels making more subtle effects impossible to capture. I attempted to take a photo of a partial arc that showed up fine w the regular photo app but did not appear when trying to photograph through Cloud Spotter. Also photos are denied w/o any explications. Simple cloud formations are easy to capture but as I try to get into more interesting spotting the app really fails. It also has a tendency to crash. The idea is good - just needs better execution for a paid app.
Its a great app and I was actually looking for something like this that would tell me what kind of clouds I was looking at but it constantly crashes when I go to upload my clouds to mycloud
Ive loved learning my clouds with this app. I have driven thousands of miles and no books on tape or music.... Just the ever changing sky. It makes my day to hear the sound my phone makes when I upload or get a verification. And I cant imagine what a huge task it must be to verify 1,000s of photos every day so some variance in expertise is to be expected. No whining... Just keep uploading and have a blast! Oh and these guys and gals are a hoot! For extra whimsy and wit check out the newsletter on the cloud appreciation society web site!
Great app for learning to identify clouds and natural optical effects. Im looking forward to the camera enhancements being implemented.
I hope I can upload photo from my photo album and delete the photo I upload by mistake.
I love this app. Its so much fun to try and find and identify all the types of clouds. The whole family gets involved, and weve learned so much. However, as other reviewers have said, it desperately needs updating. Its extremely buggy on the new software. Successfully uploaded pictures disappear constantly. Its so frustrating that my husband has quit using it until an update is available. I havent updated my software for that reason. The in-app camera badly needs a zoom feature. I have missed submitting many clouds because they couldnt be captured well enough to identify. All that being said, I still love it and continue to use it. I wish there were more apps out there like this one.
The app is nice, but dont ever forget your username. There is no way to find out what it is or reset it. Emails sent to the "support" email go unanswered. My kids would like to use the app, but cannot!!! Add a way to reset your password by using an email and not a username.
Ethereal, puffy, flat, saucer-like...... This is the coolest app for cloud lovers! Once you begin really looking its amazing how many kinds youll see!!!!
Update the app!! A truly wonderful app that I am hooked on. I love that there are real people on the other end that confirm or deny pictures. This has hooked some of my high school students on cloud identification as well! One particular student said, "I never knew clouds were so interesting." Thank you for helping make my job easier to spark a love for science. However, I have some suggestions: 1) I would love to have the ability to see on a map the locations that my photos have been taken. 2) Please include in the future more badge options, like "Spotted in all 50 states" for the US for example, or "Spotted clouds in every daylight hour." 3) Please also include the ability to network/communicate with other people using this app and scrolling through the rankings. 4) It would be great to have the ability to tap on a person you see in the rankings and see their cloud pictures and badges. Keep up the great work guys and thank you for this one-of-a-kind app!
Educational and fun. Eyes are always on the skies. Looking forward to an update. Would love to see others clouds and like them.
Fun and educational app! Love searching the skies for a cloud to add to my collection and then having an expert verify the spotting is awesome. I really really wish that the camera would have a zoom function.
I am excited to use this app! However, I would really love to be able to upload photos I’ve take previously.
This is a must have for any one interested in the sky above, put in game form! If youre already a member of the cloud appreciation society (which, lets be honest, you should already be if youre looking at reviews for this), we can appreciate further that this app made and maintained by the key members. Theyre updating the camera so we can zoom in on a particular part of the sky soon, which is much needed I would say. Besides that, an all around fun app! Great job you guys
Best way to learn about clouds. Gamification at its best. Thank you!
Im obsessed with sunsets and sunrises. That being said, I want to learn more about clouds so my photography has a more scientific and in-depth message and meaning to me. I want to know and understand fully what I am taking pictures of, and that extends beyond the colors of the sunset for me. Being an extremely analytical person and appreciating the 20 minutes in the morning and evening that produce the wildest, most spectacular images (in my opinion) that most people dont even notice- I love this app. It has me looking constantly, and I enjoy learning!
Greatly enhances my time outdoors. Although Im sure friends tire of me yelling out cloud names randomly. I check everyday to see the cloud photo of the day.
